I am somewhat ashamed to admit that I have never seen or heard of bacon in green bean casserole.

Alternative question - French cut or regular cut (for those of you who didn't skip the whole green beans part of green bean casserole to begin with)?  I say french cut - it's the only time I don't look for crisp green beans.

Mike

Your not alone Mike, never heard of bacon on GB casserole

Oh, and no french cut  beans

You had me at bacon. And why ruin perfectly good bacon with green beans?

I too never did the bacon in that casserole but we eat beans and bacon all the time.  My preference is French cut unless they are fresh from my garden.

Bacon won by a mile.  Green bean casserole with bacon and fried onions on top was a bit hit.  The vegetarian GB casserole had leftovers - the bacon laden one, not so much.

Less food = higher state of consciousness ;  these days people just eat out of boredom, to feed their false sense of self . Back in the legends when they needed their prayers to be heard, they would fast, there is something that awakens the spiritual in us when we deny the flesh. If you want  your "thanks" to be heard, can't just show up in front of the boss with a belly full of sentient creatures.

Well heck, did you see what they were eating back then?!?!  I would fast too if they put that carp in front of me!  Yes, praying for a proper slab of bacon!

Bacon was invented in Britain :old:

Like all good inventions it was stolen by the colonials.

Sorry Zack, but the known history of bacon traces it back to China (circa 1500 B.C.), with speculation the Greeks and Romans may have also served it up, even earlier.

Sorry Zack, but England, as a country, really did not exist until the early 1500's, if memory serves.

That would about 3,000 years after bacon was discovered, if China is considered the source.
