6 DOF Head Tracking
« on: November 23, 2017, 04:58:00 PM »
Hey peeps,
Of those that use 3rd party head track solutions.
Of the 6 DOF solutions, which one you using?

I just watched a video on EDTracker, its only 3 DOF, but theres a method for a pseudo 6 DOF so I ask.

I hated my RIFT, so I am doing something about it, said I would. he he

I use trackIR.  No complaints.  The pro clip apparently works a lot better than the reflectors.

I use opentrack software to run a LED clip I bought off ebay for £20.  Also need the ps3 modded eye camera for another £5.

This performs pretty much the same as TRACKIR at a 5th of the cost.

It might look cheap but it is 3d printed solid plastic.  I used to have official trackir and the clip was really flimsy.

TrackIR here, would not fly in AH without it, if you decide for it, buy the Trackclip pro mentioned above.
Waiting for a higher resolution VR headset to show up.

Hey Bruv,
Whats the camera mod you used for the ps cam?

From what the internet has, I will just add LED to helmet, get a hi fps ir cam and use ..................seems any number option available. I am currently gathering info for all available options so as to take the head tracking step after displays installed. Long path to go still.

you can do it yourself with the right tools.  I just bought the one with it already done wasnt that much extra for the time and effort.  It has the infra red lens filter removed, plenty of guides on Youtube.

You configure the camera to black so the software can easily pick up the Led lights from the clip.

I trolled by something about play station use only, but I did not follow thru.

From what I can tell in DIY land, this is quite common, quite ez, quite cheap to accomplish. I intend to do this in phase 3 of my build. Half to pass phase 2 1st. lol

If you wear glasses and you use trackir camera purchase or make the pro clip. It can be made for $12 USD, enough parts to make 3 of them.
