AMD Rx Vega 64 VBios Flash
« on: December 07, 2017, 04:28:10 PM »
Hi All,

Just reporting on the results of the flash of my ref XFX Radeon Rx Vega 64 8Gb graphics card from the stock vbios to the stock vbios of the XFX Radeon Rx Vega 64 8Gb LiquidCooled graphics card.

Flash went well w\o any issues using the latest ATIWinFlash 2.77 (compatible for Rx Vega series). This technically makes my ref Vega 64 into the liquid cooled one.

Right off the bat this flash brought approx a 20% performance gain on this same GPU over the ref bios....and shows to do it w\ approx a 10% drop in GPU usage w\ an avg operational GPU clock increase of 200MHz across the board over the ref bios. The card is operating very smooth w\ no issues after I cleaned then reinstalled the drivers to clear out the registry of the ref entries\settings that was loaded when the driver (17.11.4) read the ref bios upon initial install (had ran the card before doing this....AHIII would run OK but would crash and hang when the GPU was pushed above 1657MHz (ref bios limit @ 1630.....now bios limit is 1750)....driver uninstall, cleanout & reinstall fixed all of this.

This is the vbios that needs to be in all Rx Vega 64 8Gb vid cards. This was part of my plan to buy a ref Rx Vega 64 8Gb card, slap a full coverage water block on it then flash it up.

It's now fully complete. For those interested all can be found on TechPowerUp's site.
