auto rudder when on the ground?

Am having major issues getting the plane to go in a straight line when taking off EVEN while in auto takeoff mode!
Just noticed that the rudders seem to be moving when I move the stick like an auto rudder option.
when I did once get into the air the rudders seemed to work properly (ie: only when I used my saitek foot pedals).. it seems to be only when on the ground they go all auto ruddery on me. I suspect thats happening during auto take off too.

is it my non powered usb hub? (the numbers DO oscillate for all the axes when in setup options)
or have I enable something in a vehicle mode?

really destroying the sim for me at the moment as as I am just about to retire I need this up and running to 'pass the time'..

hoping someone can help?

Check your dead band. If the axis is spiking when it is just sitting there the "rudder" axis may be going bad. Adding some dead band could settle it down some. Look at the "raw" settings to see if you have an issue and if adding dead band clears it.

Also check the brake setting to make sure you arent having spikes there too.

You say you used rudder pedals at one point but what are you using now?

no its not deadband related Im sure.
when on the ground if I move the joystick left the rudders go left as well, similarly if I move the stick right, the rudders go to the right. Not just a little bit but deliberately all the way.
This is obvious inside the cockpit and from the outside.
Moving the rudders does nothing while on the ground.

Once in the air however the stick does not affect the rudders

I have plugged in a new hub too.. no change.

I have a CH fighterstick and pro throttle and the saitek rudders. There is also an X25 logitech wheel plugged in but on a different USB port although it does show in the aces high controls mapping screen.

its like I have auto or co-ordinated rudder enabled but only on the ground!!!?

just did another test.
auto takeoff worked fine and I got off the ground. Once up everything is OK.
Tried landing and as soon as I touched the ground there was no rudder movement from moving the saitek pedals but again, if I mover the fighterstick the rudders moved too.
definitely seems ground related!!???  aaargh!!!

Going basic here I have:

CH Fighterstick USB
X-axis    roll aileron
Y- axis   pitch  elevator
Z-axis     rpm 1   [ the analog wheel on left side ]

Pro Throttle
Z-axis    throttle 1

Siatek EVO/CH rudder
Z-axis    Yaw  rudder
x, y -axis     toe brakes

yep, same (except ive not assigned the throttle on the fighterstick.

I just tried turning OFF the auto take off.. same issue, no rudder movement AT ALL. The plane just yaws to the left and crashes.
also tried disengaging the X25 wheel and again, no change.

I feel Im missing something simple here like a mode problem (although its always apparently in Mode 1) or something that disengages the rudders while on the ground???

Try renaming your settings folder and starting fresh.

I am still researching this one.  We did add an auto-rudder feature which was intended for mouse fliers.

It does work as you described where the rudder is slaved to the left/right axis, only during take-off and landing.

But, I still need to dig.

So, here we go.

The auto-rudder function is designed to work if there is only a mouse, or if the X/Y Axis of the mouse are mapped.

Check to see if anything it mapped to your mouse X/Y Axis.

faminz, it might would help Skuzzy help find your problem/find the fix, if you could go into the settings folder and copy the joystick, throttle, rudders and mouse files and add them to a zipped file then email them to Skuzzy at support@hitechcreations.com

Sounds like you have somehow accidentally managed to enable the new autorudder feature

You can also try renaming the games "settings" folder, just to test to see if that does fix it.  The game will recreate the folder and all the defaults it needs to run.

I found there WAS a mouse control recognised and it did have a few things assigned in it ( I vaguely remember trying a mouse only version on a laptop quite a while ago!)
So I set them all to NONE (in all 4 modes) but no effect.
I checked the settings folder and found two suspect files, mouse.jsm and mouseonly.jsm
They still had assignments in them so I saved them to desktop then deleted them.
Restarted... no change! (so setting them to none in the sim had no effect?!!)
I have zipped up the settings folder but dont know where to send it to as an email attachment?

i will try deleting the settings folder now. (thanks again Skuzzy)
