Video Card Questions

So I am an old player from back in 2002 and I am looking to get back into playing Aces High. I have one systems I am playing on and one I am building at the moment. Currently my temp gaming rig is an I7 7700K @ 4.9Ghz on Corsair Water, ASUS Maximus IX Formula Motherboard, 1TB Samsung 960 pro NVMe primary storage, Samsung 850 pro SSD backup, 32 GB Dominator Platinum 3200Mhz Ram and two ASUS Poseidon GTX 1080ti's on air in SLI. I have a second rig I am building that the two Poseidon cards will move onto to an ASUS Extreme board with GSkill Trident Z ram and a dual loop water cooled setup in my Phanteks Elite case.

Soooo my first question is that I noticed when just trying out the game in offline mode that it's only registering 3072M video memory and flying around it fills up half. Does it not recognize the 11GB on one card let alone the two cards on my system? I have everything maxed out or turned on and I am still a solid 100 FPS with g sync enabled at 3440 x 1440 on an ASUS PG348Q monitor so it's not like it matters but I am curious. I also noticed my first cards is hardly tasked and my second card is pretty much idling with the exception I have it set for PhysX in the control panel.

Lastly, I have an issue with high pings due to a server in Singapore and packet loss out of Dallas and Colorado if I remember right. I live overseas and this massive ping hit I get in Singapore plus the packet loss will make the game unplayable. Any suggestions?

The total video RAM is not going to be correct if your video card has more than 4GB of video RAM.  This is a limitation of the specific Microsoft function we use which can only return a 32bit value.

SLI is not going to get you anything.  If anything it will hurt your game performance if you are using the supplied Aces High profile from NVidia.  That profile has never been right for Aces High and has even more issues with the new graphic engine.

Our graphic engine is very efficient.  That said, if you get into a big furball, the frame rate will take a hit.

Are you using any type of open VPN relay?  The reason I ask is due to your source IP not being anywhere close to Singapore.

Thank you for the quick reply to my questions. I wasn't sure if the reason it wasn't seeing all of my video RAM was due to something on my side. In another game I play I have it pre-load all the textures so it doesn't possibly jitter as I encounter new data.

I am not currently using any profile from NVidia for my SLI setup for the game. I saw that folks had sometime type of profile for AH2 but in seeing some of your posts I didn't even attempt to use it. I figured it's better asking your staff what's best first before I start tweaking anything. I loaded up the offline arena with everything maxed out to see what my initial numbers would be in the game with everything pushed to the right or selected in the options.

Last time I played Aces High was in the early 2000's on an old ATI 9800xt with no real issues but didn't know how these new Poseidon cards would fair with the new AH3.

I am not using any VPN that I am aware of but maybe Etisalat here in the UAE has something going on. I've ran a trace route and ping plotter to see how my latency would be playing from my location in Abu Dhabi UAE. Local servers for other games are very low ping but to your website it shows some high pings and packet loss. I have my hops down at the bottom for you to see. Hops from 11 to 15 are all a ping of 223 to 233 but no packet loss going to the www.hitechcreations.com page. The game itself is showing a 384 ping on almost all servers. This data is all via ping plotter and my hops via Monitis Trace Route show big hits in a San Jose server and multiple servers in Singapore. Any ideas what it may be?

Hop 2: 92.96.253.2, 3 ping with 12% packet loss.
Hop 6: 195.229.3.171, 198 ping no packet loss.
Hop 7: 206.126.236.185, te3-5.bbr01.eq01.wdc01.networklayer.com, 211 ping with no packet loss.
Hop 8: 50.97.17.144, ae5.cbs01.eq01.wdc02.networkl ayer.com 195 ping with 36% packet loss.
Hop 9: 50.97.17.165, ae1.cbs01.tl01.atl01.networkl ayer.com 212 ping with 27% packet loss.
Hop 10: 50.97.17.162, ae0.cbs02.eq01.dal03.networkl ayer.com 223 ping with 54% packet loss.

You are getting 12% packet loss at hop #2, which is your ISP connection.  That should be constant, no matter who you ping as any immediate routing is going to be in your ISP network.

Are you running any anti-xxxx software?  Or have some kind of firewall you are behind?  How long has it been since you power cycled your router?  Are you physically connected to the router, or connected via wireless?  If wireless, what type of wireless protocol?

As far as pre-loading. the game will pre-load what it needs before it is going to need it.  If we pre-loaded the entire data set, it would raise the requirements for the video card RAM considerably.

I am running Kapersky AV currently and other than that the only firewall would be Windows. My connection goes from the in house router which provides connections at 10 wall points throughout my apartment. Then from one of the wall points it's connected to the providers modem/router and then over to my AC5300 router via cable and from the AC5300 it's wired to my computer. I have the router setup to expand the wifi in the apartment for other wifi components due to the horrible range off the Etisalat modem/router. I could bypass my AC5300 straight to my computer from their modem if need be and run a secondary cable to the router for dedicated wifi purposes. I have cycled both my Etisalat router and my AC5300 within the last week at the same time.

I was only curious about the pre-loading since my video cards (ASUS Poseidon GTX 1080ti) have so much on board memory available for use. I thought of it as more of an option to enable or disable that function and wasn't really sure if it would utilize all of my memory available natively.

Kaspersky, along with a few others, has been known to interfere with the game.

Need to solve that immediate packet loss and see what happens after that.

The graphic engine is frugal and only has loaded what it needs to draw any given frame, along with what might be needed soon.  Helps with overall performance.

I wired my computer straight to their modem/router and I disabled Kaspersky to test it. I am getting some random packet loss on hop 2 when I use ping plotter pro but there are other areas of concern. I am getting massive packet losses at these locations ae1.cbs01.tl01.atl01.networkl ayer.com, ae5.cbs01.eq01.wdc02.networkl ayer.com and here ae0.cbs02.eq01.dal03.networkl ayer.com. I did note that a local server at 195.229.2.149 which is hop 6 on ping plotter is shooting me up to a 200+ ping. I could live with a little higher latency but this massive packet loss at the servers noted above in the US are just too much. Looks like it's Atlanta, Washington DC and Dallas hops that are creating mass packet losses of 44% or higher for each of their hops. And the packet loss at hop 2 is random at best but these three above are consistent regardless of what hop 2 does. Even when it's perfect those three hops are always way off between 40 to 70% packet loss.

Unfortunately, we have no control over how routes are chosen over the Internet.  It could be temporary due to weather related failures in the telecommunications network.  Routes are never static, and what causes them to change can be a long discussion.

If you search, you will find complaints about networklayer.com (https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/5ip8yz/major_packet_loss_from_networklayercom/).  Seems to come and go with them.

Okay I will just have to be patient and see if it clears up in time. I did notice many folks on different forums and reddit complaining about the same servers. Same goes with the servers in Singapore that are showing up on my trace route tests. I may just have to wait a bit longer than I prefer to come back playing Aces High again. I got on today and buzzed around a bit with a mouse but pings were still 360 ish but the net data I pulled up in the game seems fairly solid. I just know it sucks for players in the game when someone happens to have a high ping with packet loss and is jumpy all over the screen. No offense to folks who had that in the past but I just don't want to ruin it for folks. Heck I am not even sure if it behaves that way any more to be honest. I wanna jump in a ride with someone and hit the furballs to so I can watch my data and my fps to see what it does.

High pings are not the problem.  Inconsistent/random pings is what they complain about.

Skuzzy so does that mean if my net status in game is fairly "flat lined" then I wouldn't cause issues to others by playing? I've jumped in there recently and just kind of hit up different fields with a lot of action going on and very rarely do I see someone going zig zag all over the sky. I also monitored my net status and it was straight across on both windows. I just don't want to intentionally cause havoc with other players if I know my connection is the culprit or suspect. I saw you on yesterday when you announced the update and wanted to ask if you had the ability to see my in game net data but knew you were busy.
