Purple icons for friendlies on range channel.

Like squad icon colours, I wish the game would show friendlies in purple in accordance of their presence in the range radio channel.

You can go in the GUI on the Clipboard and change it to whatever color you like.

Well no, I cant.

Currently there is no colour distinction for people on range so its not possible atm. That is why I have it on the wishlist.

You have (default) squad on orange, green for friendlies, white for wingman, yellow for mission and I am asking for purple for people who took off from the same base as you (range channel).

I was under the assumption that the "range" channel was for those within range, not for those that took off from the same field. Is this a common misconception, or only half true?

From the AH wiki

"The second voice radio is the range radio and it is not tunable. The range radio allows transmission to those in icon range if you are in flight or players in the room with you if you are not in flight."

So essentially, with MA play, if you can see their icon they are within range - to my knowledge. I would like to say this applies to range text as well, however it may be range text that is from the same field. I will dig a little deeper.

This thing is a bit confusing, not least because of recent changes.

First, there is the range voice channel.
Then, there is the good old Room text channel (#3), which has traditionally been misnamed 'range' text by large parts of the AH playerbase - but it never was one. This text can be read (only) by those coming from the same base, but works without any range limits (even across the map)
Third (to increase the confusion), HT recently added a real "Range" text channel  (#7, dark purple). Text equivalent to the voice range channel, can be read by anyone in the vicinity. New players have it enabled by default, old players would have to enable it in their chat window settings.
