At least the Enterprise design has elements based off of working theories.  The Falcon,...not so much.

Enterprise.

Lucas apparently didn't know that a 'parsec' is a unit of distance: 3.08567758149137×1016 meters or 19.173511577 trillion miles or 3.261563777 light-years (based on the IAU 2012 exact SI definition of the astronomical unit). Basically, someone is bragging about a 'shortcut.'

Actually, the Kessel run takes you close to an area of the galaxy known as the Maw, which is a blackhole cluster and is known to rip ships from hyperspace and trap them in the immense gravity eddies in the area.  By taking it in under 12 parsecs, he's claiming he was able to get closer to the Maw than most vessels would ever dare.  This route, albeit a little further out, was favored by smugglers because the large imperial cruisers were unable to function that close to the Maw.

Read your books man!!!   :old:

Are you serious?
Loses power when absolutely needed, in the shop after each trip to the store, constantly under the torch being welded on, squeaks, rattles and shakes.  Working theories? Sounds like a fully functional brand new Chevy Pickup to me!

Interesting bit of retcon...
The whole concept of doing the Kessel Run in 2 parsecs is tongue in cheek.  As he's saying "Hey - I can do the Iron Butt motorcycle ride in 11'000 miles".  Yeah, no kidding, the Kessel Run IS 2 parsecs in distance.

Hollywood scifi writers...

Of course, leave it to Trekkies to point that out

When I was a young man, the Falcon all the way.  Now, approaching 50 in a couple of years, I go with the USS Enterprise.  I like the idea of being Captain and having everything catered to me.  I don't hold no problems with brownnosers and kiss butts.   :devil
