The B was 42-106463 G4-H, the U've Had It! flown by John England. She was the first of his four P-51's.

Excellent choice.

That’s a cool machine.

I keep hoping they’ll give us a C and a K.  Evil grin.  :D  :noid

I have just read Krusty's basic instructions, looks like they were written for AH2. In it he says to download the hi-res pack, there doesn't seem to be one for AH3 so I assume there really isn't one.

I have been trying the layering process, I can create the layer, reduce its opacity so I can see the base layer. My question now is, do you zoom in to see the lines, if so how do you deal with the pixels? I think I get how to make the panel and rivet layers, do I need to mask them at this point?

Yes, Krusty's tutorial is mostly outdated. There are still some relevant bits in there about the techniques of actually drawing and using layers.

As for the panel lines, assuming you are using the "paths tool" for angled and curved lines, be sure you select "anti-aliasing". This will blur the edges and make the line look smooth. You may want to repeat the process so that the anti-aliased lines appear equally dark as strait lines following the pixel grid.

Also, I draw my panel lines with opacity at 100.  When I’m finished with them  I adjust the layer opacity level.   YMMV but it’s easier to see what I’ve missed that way.

Here’s a discussion with Devil on rivets and panel lines, namely shading to give depth.

Note the Sukhoi model with overspray...
