Fixing a dead pixel - how to?
« on: February 01, 2018, 09:29:16 AM »
I'm at work and for some reason I'm reminded that my monitor has a dead pixel - a tiny speck on the monitor tends to stay bright blue. I'm sure I could Google or YouTube it, but does anyone have any suggestions otherwise?

Monitor is an Asus - VG248QE 24.0" 1920x1080 144Hz as linked here

The first trick is to simply tap it. A tender but well aimed fillip might just release a stuck pixel.

How do you get reminded of that? A pop-up window, or just an annoying blue dot on a black background when you boot your computer?

I have some minor memory loss, so sometimes I just ride a random train of thought and see if it ends up anywhere useful. I was waiting for a prescription at the local hospital when a train of though arrived at that stuck little blue pixel.  :old:

Good luck with it.

It appears much easier than I would have thought! Thank you

So far this has worked for me.

That sounds familiar. Often, when there's something that requires planning and thought beyond my training I get the best ideas sitting on the toilet bowl.

The reason I asked was because I want to know about the latest features without having to read tons of reviews.

Aha! I seem to have my best thoughts and ideas in the shower, but they're always gone by the time I've dried off.

In fact, I had forgotten about this thread entirely until I was waiting on my oil change at the shop. Perhaps I'll fix this pixel tonight  :rofl

My 2 dead pixels (black) keep me on my toes. One looks like a distant fighter and the other a distant bomber formation.

Take a really tiny drill bit and drill a hole over the stuck pixel and drop some lubricant in it.  :bolt:
