So you rebuilt the stairs only? Or the whole stair case?

Looks beautiful! What did you end up using for a stain/sealant? Tung Oil? Stain and varnish?

The house was built in 1878. 

Most of the original woodwork was able to be reused
Some was remade by my grandfather and I. Some of it was also salvaged from a house that was torn down, a few years ago , that the woodwork was done by the same guy. 

My wife took that on as a project, she has many hours into the stripping of the old stain, and sanding.
