30,000+ ft pinpoint accurate bombing = gameplay concession. (bombs have no dispersion whatsoever, so pinpoint really applies to all altitudes)
being able to zig-zag while in bombsight to take out multiple ack, fuel, ammo, barracks, and radar in one pass = gameplay concession (tho very much related to the above one.)
Oh, hitting a CV with a single level buff flying high??? Come on, that's about as gamey as carbombing, IMO.
"* Buffs are essential to the strat element in the game, especially now with the changes in field captures." - true. the above concessions are due to this fact.
I have no problem with buff gun strength or the ease or lack thereof in killing a buff. Take the time to get higher than a single buff and it's dead meat. of course you can't do that very well if the buff is at 35,000ft (while the buff can nail hangars with perfect accuracy from up there)
I don't give a single hair on a rat's butt if Lazs "fun" is ruined by a bomb, regardless where it came from. It just so happens that when buffs are talked about, Lazs is gonna be there pooh-poohing them.
My position is that bombing in buffs is gamey and lame, IMO. It DOES have a purpose though, so I don't want to see buffs go like Lazs does. I'd love to see recreations of the actual sights used in each buff we have (not just the generic one that all buffs use) and then have the bombs fall at least somewhat realistically (our MG and cannon rounds have dispersion, why can't bombs?) But Nifty, then the solo buff wouldn't be able to do anything. You know what, yer right. It'd give those dedicated bomber squadrons (like the DHBG and BeachS' 483rd) a REAL reason to get up some big ol' buff formations to hit some strat targets. Precision bombing was done by fighters in attack roles, not a single high level bomber.
In conclusion... buffs = gameplay concessions.
