Midway Skins

Hello skinning community,

I'm posting some pictures here for skinning of more Midway era aircraft from both sides. I think we are lacking in Midway era skins and need more variety, especially the IJN (if possible).

Anyhow, here is a photograph of VF-8 and VB-8 on the Hornet

A Midway Devastator skin for the scenario based on the B5N2 will be my next project.

I have been looking for Japanese Midway aircraft subjects and of course there is no original source material since any photos taken either went down with the carriers or got destroyed by Japanese censors soon after. So best I can do is find photos of Midway carrier planes from their earlier operations, not a big issue as the tail code and the ID stripe markings on these aircraft didn't change between Pearl Harbour and Midway. The A6Ms remained olive grey with black cowls and the B5Ns were generally green with olive grey undersides and black cowls throughout. The only real change was to the D3As which got a coat of green over their olive grey upper sides for the Indian Ocean operation a couple of months prior to Midway.

I have already skinned an Akagi B5N and a Hiryu A6M2 with the right sort of schemes but my green D3A skin is from Shokaku which wasn't at Midway, so the first Japanese skin I will do is a green D3A from one of the correct carriers.

There ought to be enough info available on USN Midway schemes and any skins should be quick to do, pretty much a case of just changing the numbers and weathering on some of my existing skins.
