This scenario had everything I want and expect in a scenario - great leadership, teamwork, interesting strategy and tactics, periods intense combat offset by periods of patrol/inaction. It supported lots of different mission types - sweeps, intercepts, escort, level and dive bombing; both air-to-air and air-to-ground combat. The terrain was great and the clouds were beautiful and functionally effective as cover.
I enjoyed the VVS vs Luftwaffe mid-War match-up and it was so great to be in a P-39 and feel both potent and vulnerable at different times.
I could be tempted to complain about the plane set; that the Fw190 was too capable. But I won't because that is the nature of the combat we're simulating in the setting we've reproduced. That is the way it really was, I'm thrown into it, now how can I do with what I have? This scenario was especially great at presenting
that problem for the planners.
Only places I'd nick it is in the Area of Operations and targets; I felt the AO and number of targets were too constrained. And attendance - I want to see 70 players per side, not 70 total. But don't we all.
<S> to the designers, planners, and all the participants. And especially to the group leaders and commanders - you guys were brilliant in your roles.
