I'm back with a new PC...couple nvidia questions...
« on: March 22, 2018, 09:35:22 PM »
I'm back!

I picked up a Lenovo Legion Y720T recently and it has a GTX 1070 in it.

It's not quite the "killer rig" I envisioned for gaming...but this meets the budget for now.  I mean, I have to have some spare $$ for accessories (and beer!)

I haven't gamed much in years...too much messing with 3D printers and that sort of thing.

I played the game offline and cranked up the details to see what it could do.  A few flickers but I'm guessing I need to do some tweaking in the nvidia control panel?

If you can give me some suggestions, I would appreciate it.  It stinks flying the mouse until I decide what new HOTAS to get!

My home grown machine runs a 1060 GTX and no nvidia tweaks required that I know of.  I'm far away from my puter in Thailand at the moment, but I think I have environment mapping turned down some in game to keep frame rates up when I'm using the monitor. Lately I mostly run VR, and tweaked some settings that were suggested in the VR forum.

The only thing you need to do in the Nvidia control panel is to make your rig choose the Nvidia card when playing AH. AH has been built to run on default settings of the card, all settings being done in the game. Except choosing the right card of course.

1. Open the "Nvidia Control Panel".
2. Select "Manage 3D Settings" under 3D Settings.
3. Click on the "Program Settings" tab and select the program you want to choose a graphics card for from the drop down list.
4. Now select "preferred graphics processor" in the drop down list. (You can see what the automatic option is listed as global setting) If you want to use the dedicated graphics card, select High-performance Nvidia processor.

Something like that.

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

The defaults should be fine.  The big thing will be to disable power management.  That can be pretty intrusive as it is very aggressive in the latest generation of laptops.

My friend has an Occulus (sp?) and I find that it fogs up quickly.  I assume it's in how it fits.  But wow, he put me on some roller coaster app and I thought I was having a vertigo attack!  Those things take some getting used to!

I saw a lot of settings the that control panel....I'll see of those steps you shared match what I saw.  Thanks!

Welcome back LePaul.

Fortunately it's not a laptop!  But it can't hurt to see if that's in the control panel too.

....have not had trouble with mine fogging, but I live in Montana where the air is very dry.  The rift certainly takes some getting used to, but it is awesome for Aces High....it's like you are in the plane....very immersive!

Hi guys

So I went into the nvidia Control Panel, hit the Add Button and added Aces High

Only setting I altered was the Power Management Mode to Prefer maximum performance

I see all sorts of neat settings...should those be left alone?
