Torps
« on: April 18, 2018, 06:31:20 PM »
Can someone tell me the damage difference between the 4 different torpedo types we have in game?

We have the Mk XIII the 800kg Japan the Type 91 Japan and the german F5B torpedo.
DO they all the damage with the same power?

Take the weight in pounds, then multiply it by two.  That is the damage inflicted by a single torpedo.  Each ship has a hardness that requires so many pounds of damage to overcome in order for it to sink.  Not sure what the current hardness is for ships.

According to Oceania's settings (at least what I have in offline mode):

14,060 lbs for battleship
7,030 lbs for carrier
3,520 lbs for cruiser

But these can be modified by whoever loads and manages the arena.

 Note that explosives don't do their nominal weight in damage.

A 1000lb bomb does something on the order of 512lbs of damage, a 500lb bomb does around 276 I think, a 250lber does about 190lbs, and I think 100lb bombs actually do 103lbs of damage.

Torpedoes may also be similarly affected (noting the damage is doubled to simulate below waterline damage). So it may actually take like 7 800kg torpedos to sink a battleships, even though on the face of it, 800kg = 1763lbs x 2 = 3526lbs x 7 = 24,682 lbs of damage.

While this is correct, you values are off.

a 1,000 lb bomb does exactly 1,000lb of damage, and that's why all object damage values in the settings are given in 1,000lb bombs.

GP bombs of AH:
4,000lb = 3,125 damage
2,000lb = 1,718 damage
1,000lb = 1,000 damage
500lb    =    562 damage
250lb    =    313 damage
100lb    =    156 damage

AP variants to 150% damage at 20% damage radius
SAP variants do 125% damage at 33% radius
HC/LC variants do 75% damage at 125% radius

As for the topic, I had somewhat neglected torps in the past. Right now I only have damage values for the US and the Japanese Type 91 torpedo, which according to my numbers do (did?) both 4,687 damage - but in this case I'd rather like to see someone confirming these numbers.  :old:

The standard SHIP value for the MA is 1.56, means DDs and CAs both take 1,560lb of damage to be sunk. (That's why a single Jabo can easily send a CA to the bottom).
CV and BB damage values are not shown in the object settings at all.

Howdy, Lusche.

Where did you get the damage table below?

Also, do you know if there is an AH reference to blast radius of bombs and how it works?  (i.e., constant inside the radius, 1/r^2 fall-off, etc.)

Where did you get the damage table below?

First by testing, and later HT himself posted the damage values of GP bombs which matched the tests.

No. Long time ago I did some tests on that too, but came the conclusion that I would need a special terrain for that.
