Hello, I am a member of Hening's Squad and wanted to back up what he's saying.
We really enjoy the TODs and Scenarios. Myself and Abunabi are late night guys, these guys hit the sack earlier than us, so we do not get to fly as a squad as often as we would like. Thus why we look forward to the TODs and plan our lifestyles accordingly for that. (Those poor guys are drinking foamy cups of java to keep up with us NightOwls). So, when the TOD goes FUBAR for a variety of reasons, its a real disappointment for our guys.
First, let's talk about the CM stuff. I know you guys do a lot of work on this, and you also remind all participants about all the work you do on it. So, suffice to say, we understand its not an easy task. But, if I may, I'd like to suggest some "protocol" that makes things easier for everyone.
First, if late walk-ons are a faux-pas for CMs, then late orders and terrains should be to. Ideally, everything needed for all players to play the weekly TOD should be out the door the Monday before, so Squads can practice and develop their skills. For us, and I'm sure others, it becomes part of our Squad Practice sessions.
Further, this gives the Flight/Squad Leads of each Squadron a chance to link up and communicate with their follow players...for example, escorts can open a dialogue with their bombers.
It just seems to me that if anyone speaks harshly of the previous weeks TOD, they are shoved the "oh we work so hard on these TODs" and then the flame war begins. I'd like to think the TOD Scenario folks have rugged egos and can accept the suggestions. Again, I know the scenario folks do a lot, we're simply asking that certain protocols and deadlines be enforced, so squads can have what they need prior to play, and hopefully be less stress on the CMs
Speaking on my behalf, we've tried to be really patient with the recent issues with the TODs. We ALSO put a lot of time and planning into being there.
So, with that said, let's help each other out so that the TOD's continue to be a popular and packed event.
Please, no flames
