Most Produced Combat Aircraft of WWII
« on: May 27, 2018, 12:27:19 PM »
Found an interesting table in Wikipedia on aircraft production numbers and modified it to include only WWII-period combat aircraft.   AH has done a remarkable job of including the most of the high-production aircraft of WWII, though there are still some I'd really like to see included in the game.

Below that table I added the lesser-produced aircraft included in AH alongside their production figures.

Hope I'm around long enough to see the Beaufighter and SB2C HellDiver see the light of day in the game

What about the Ar-234?

Only 25 Ta-152s produced and it gets in but the G.55 had 274 made and not even a sneak preview?  It's an outrage!  :old:

We need a Beaufighter. It was by far the most successful plane slapped together out of left over pieces they had laying around the factory. "Hey, here's a tail of a Beaufort and some spare Hercules engines. Lets stick 4 hispanos into them, 6 303s installed in random places and shazam! What? We forgot the navigator? Damnit, just put him in the back in a bubble where he can't hurt himself".

All theatres of war, numerous roles, night and day, from the end of the Battle of Britain till the end of the war. Then to serve in the fledgling Israeli airforce. If the British had not had the mosquito, spitfire, Hurricane, Typhoon and Tempest, they would have remembered this plane as their best.  :old:
Mosquito VI - twice the spitfire, four times the ENY.

Would be interesting to see the table adjusted to only ww2 numbers as many seem to have been produced after the war, and don't count in AH context.

Caldera, thanks - I've added the Ar.234 to my spreadsheet.  210 produced.  Not sure how I missed that one.

MiloMorai - I went back and checked the wiki page for the Ta 152 and updated the total produced from 25 to 69, based on this information:

"By February 1945, all Ta 152 production had ceased.[21] According to Peter Rodeike, 44 Ta 152 H-0/V and 25 Ta 152 H-1 were built; total Ta 152 production is unknown."

Thanks for comments/discussion guys.

1) I could never resist a big-tailed woman.

2) Chunky girls need lovins, too.

3) Fat chicks try harder.

As a former boss once said, “You’d like her if she was skinny.”

:rofl

But seriously, I grew up with the CAF’s Helldiver and always loved the paint scheme.

Yes, I think the P-51, F4U, and Spitfire would fall several places in rank relative to other aircraft.  But then, numbers produced is only one measure of how significant an aircraft was.  In all, I think AH has done a pretty fair job.   Personally I'd like to see the Beaufighter and SB2C included, as well as the P-51 split into more models - something like 500 A-36 Apaches were produced using the early P-51 airframe and an Allison engine.   And more Japanese planes like the Ki.44, Ki.45, J2M3.  I could keep HTC busy for a long time with my wishlist.  :devil
