Cuban 737 footage

The plane appears to be in a spin or has one of its control surfaces (perhaps rudder) jammed in full deflection.  It struck me as very unusual.

Hard to tell what is going on here.  It departs right before impact though.  Is this even authentic?   Do I see winglets?

The engines match (turbojets) but you are right, the plane the video does appear to have winglets.

Footage not very good anyway. A plane spinning out for no reason...

Hell, maybe it's a set up. Those preist could have went to Getmo. We shall never know.

Old B737 not maintenance supported due to Cuban embargo.
Please recall the B737 losses in the USA due to rudder hard-over incidents.

Embargo not relevant, IMHO.  They’re not maintained well because it’s a third world country.  Nigeria can get all the parts it wants but they still can’t keep things flying...

Agreed. Just speculating that this 737 was non-compliant with the modifications required under the Airworthiness Directive.
