New vessel

I wish for the LST to be added to the CV and BB group's, so we could land GV's to bases that don't have spawn in points.

In WW2 were LST ever launched into front line beach assaults or was it only after the beach was captured and safe? That would have been one huge slow target for the Japanese guns and mortars if LST were at the tip of the spear. In our game you want to do that, and how many LVT don't make it to shore becasue of how we play this game? Hitech might be kind and spawn it lodged on the beach, then if everything is not perfect. Shore battery down, ammo bunkers dead, vehicle hanger, bomber hanger, fighter hanger, manned guns, it's toast. Not to forget it will be a stationary target with bombers vectoring in to take out the task group that could spare a bomb or two for a none moving target. Then would it be unreasonable that the LST only carry the same number of M4 used in the Pacific which are much easier to kill than the overly popular T34\85? If I remember in the past this same wish had it acting like a GV spawn point with unlimited spawn ins for tanks and resupply.

Ok, Ok,... I was just making a wish. I could have wished for world peace, but I know that will never happen either.

And if you were a student of the PTO, you would know the Marines hit the beaches before anything was secure and they used LST's and LVT's.

I've been the one advocating for a LST - and yes, it is a target, but so is are any LVT's, planes, tanks, and troop carriers and jeeps.  A LST is a lot larger and it does have large AAA defences of:
- 1 × 3 in (76 mm) gun
- 6 × 40 mm Bofors guns
- 6 × 20 mm guns
- 2 × .50 cal (12.7 mm) machine guns
- 4 × .30 cal (7.62 mm) machine guns

So, yes, it's not well defended against a 20'000ft B-24 but it had some teeth (standard configuration of a LST for WWII).

It's ok Shilo - just part of the Aces High culture to critique game improvement ideas... kinda like posting a research paper - and expect fellow researchers to critique.  It's all guuuud. :salute

"Early LST operations required overcoming the 18th-century language of the Articles for the Government of the United States Navy: 'He who doth suffer his ships to founder on rocks and shoals shall be punished...' There were some tense moments of concept testing at Quonset, Rhode Island, in early 1943 when designer Niedermair encouraged the commanding officer of the first U.S. LST to drive his ship onto the beach at full speed of 10 knots."

I like it.  Better throw in the DUKW for good measure too.

he LST would be an awesome addition to the game . Ive seen advocates over the years for adding it. The LST certainly seen front line service, my uncle served on LST-543 in both the Atlantic and pacific theaters, He landed Canadian marines on Juno beach D-Day for he initial assault and made more supply trips as well as supply trips in the Pacific. The LST would create more dynamic game-play and be an exciting addition o the game.
