Keybord commands right on the menu for new players
« on: July 14, 2018, 08:03:07 PM »
When new players click on the Help Button, it would really help them if all the keyboard commands were right there on one or two pages. Lots of new players ask questions and everyone tells them “Alt-F4” or hit “Enter 3 times”. If they could bring up the menu and see O for open, E to start engine, G for gear, and on and on they would start having fun allot sooner. Many players have played other games like Warbirds or similar games and will catch on quickly.

It would also help new players if there was a tab they could click on to get an idea of how bases are captured. Ie. all guns have to down in town and a white flag as an example. An explanation on how a port or v base as well. All of this in tabs they can read while in the game.

The main web page has allot of helpful material. I read it when I first started AH. I think having some of the basics on the in game menu will help new players to get into the action quicker.

Just tested it offline and yes there is a link to the keyboard commands. Wish that link was there even in the tower. I constantly hear players from the tower asking about keyboard commands.

Oh...its the big HELP button on the upper left corner of the clipboard and I only just noticed it Duh>>>>>>>. :O

A link opens a web browser.

It would be better for new players to simply click on a tab and see the keyboard commands right there on the screen.

Another tab would have info on strategy, how one side defeats the other.

Keeping things simple lowers their learning curve.

They can always look in the game's temp directory at the HTML file that gets generated locally. Even print it out if they want. Wonder if anyone even uses a home printer anymore.....
