ASUS ROG factory restore

My G73JH originally shipped with Win7. I installed Win 10. A boot with F9 will restore factory settings. Will this mess with my OS or just reinstall the original software, bloatware, drivers, etc?

It should just default back to Windows 7. It is normally stored on a ~10gb partition called Restore or the like. It'll be as if you never opened the box.

Sometimes the upgrade from 7 to 10 has broken the recovery partition, leading nowhere. If it works, it will be like the day you bought it including all the bloatware. Most likely it will even wipe off all the tiny partitions created by the Win10 installation.

The laptop used to be a "roadie" gaming rig. It's way too under powered to run AH3 so I'm content to leave things as they are, with the clean install of Win 10. My original thinking as per factory reset was to reclaim the use of the backlit keyboard, which lights up during the ASUS splash screen boot but then goes dark. Have looked for a fix but haven't found one thus far. Any ideas would be welcome.

Go to the Asus website https://www.asus.com/us/Laptops/ROG-G73Jh/HelpDesk_Download/, choose Win7 64 bit for the OS and expand both "Others" and "Utilities". Try installing both "Keyboard Device Filter Utility" and "ATKACPI driver and hotkey-related utilities" despite them being for Win7. The latter should fix the issue, the former is also said to be useful as it's a driver. If you get a message saying that those aren't for your OS, cancel. If you get them installed, you may be able to update them in the Device Manager.

I'm on a roll! I fixed it after finding this YouTube and following the instructions for the updated ATK drivers.
