Remember me...?
« on: August 08, 2018, 11:49:14 PM »
It has been a very loooooooooooooooong time since I was last anywhere near AH and I have missed it every day lol. Why you may ask, because when I discovered AH after seeing those old commercials on the History Channel I discovered something else. I had just gotten my Medical Discharge from the Army for wounds I sustained as a Sapper during Combat Operations in Afghanistan. It is hard to describe the feeling that you have after you spend so much time with guys that would willingly give their life for you and then that is gone. It leaves you feeling empty and many times, alone. But as I said, then I found Aces High and after about 6 months of learning how to fly and GV and everything else with the help of some of the guys, it honestly felt like I had a family again. I know what many of you will say...that this is NOTHING LIKE what I described and ya know what, you would be correct. But I am not comparing the two in that light. I am just saying that even in a WW2 Land, Sea, and Air simulator, you develop friendships and when flying those virtual skies and saving each other back and forth is pretty special. I titled this as remember me because as I said, it has been almost 6 years since I was in the skies and I just wanted to drop in and see if any of the old breed is still hanging around. I went by quite a few different GameIDs when I first started, but these are my favorites and the ones that I did my best work as and alongside others. My longest was ReDeViL2 and I also flew as WMGambit in the "Widowmakers" with WMLute and some of the others. I just wanted to see if Bruv119 still flew, along with guys like J0KER, and the 387th guys too. I cannot remember all of the IDs anymore, but if you remember me and have changed names and/or Squads, please give me a heads up lol. As I said, this game really did help me through a very rough part of my life and I wanted to thank you all, as well as the whole HiTech Creations team for putting together such an amazing sim and making it as realistic and fun as possible. I am hoping to one day in the future, hopefully sooner rather than later, get back in the air! I downloaded the game and was just going to see how this PC handled it and if I could possibly just GV it for awhile, but my FR sucks and thus, I will need to work on fixing that! :aok :aok :aok :aok :aok :aok :aok :aok :aok :aok :aok :aok :aok :aok :aok :aok :aok :aok :aok :aok :aok :aok :aok :aok :aok :aok :aok :aok :aok :aok :aok :aok

Wow, appreciate the response to my post guys! I see you Bruv and RV lol. Been awhile, huh. I would have been on these last couple days but seeing that the PC here is good for every requirement except the VC (at least I am pretty sure of it) so I am going to have to work on that. I figured at the least I would be able to get out there and GV. Still no luck with FR of more than maybe 10, which is bugging me because I remember way back when before I bought a Video Card I just turned all the Visual Effects down real low or turned some off and other on, etc. But it is not doing what it should so I am out of ideas lo. If any of you want to help out let me know. I need to get out of here for the night, so if any of you have any helpful tips then by all means let me know. Again, so nice to see a few of you guys and even cooler that you remember me! :rock

Try these things:

-- Set the "environment map" slider to "none".
-- Select "disable" on all the special graphics effects.
-- In the "video settings" option when you first start the game, try a "max texture size" of 1024 or even 512.

It that isn't acceptable, I've found that a $130 GTX 1050 graphics card can give 60 frames per second on default settings with the "environment map" slider set to "none".

Thanks a bunch Brooke! I am pretty sure I messed with the video settings when I first started again but may have overlooked something. TTYL!

Post the first third (up to and including <SOUND DEVICES>, the whole thing doesnt fit) of a DXDIAG report and that will help the guys here tune your system, if it can be tuned to run the game.

Lol, appreciate the Tip...and now lets pretend that I have never been around a PC in my life (lol, it honestly feels that way due to being gone as long as I have been). And I am sorry about having to ask yet another question, lol, but could you possibly explain to me how I can get that information so I can then post it on here? Thank you! It is so weird...when I first began playing AH, I knew next to nothing about PC's. By the time I had gotten good enough in-game to start enjoying the finer aspects of it, I had also become pretty good at messing around with the computer like which video card was best and CPU info, etc. Just get back to me when you have a little extra time. and can help me do what you mentioned. :aok

No problem, its pretty easy. In the lower left corner of the screen click on the windows ICON and type DXDIAG in the search box. Click on the dxdiag program at the top. It may ask you if you want didgitally signed blah blah blah, click no and give it a minute. Once the new window opens, near the bottom click on the "save all info" button, and save it some place you can find it...... I put it on the desktop. Close the window.

Open the txt file you just made. Copy the first third (right click, hold and drag the mouse over the text)up to and including <SOUND DEVICES>, and paste it here in a new post. Thats it

Hey Fugitive, here it is. I didn't think it was going to be this much information and I hope this is what you are talking about lol. Thanks again and hopefully there is something that yu guys can help with so I can at least play a little until I get a little more cash to get my other PC fixed. Ummm, I tried pasting it in here and received a message saying that it exceeds the maximum allowed length. Is there some other way of doing it so that I can fit it in? Or maybe I can email it or something to you?
