                                                                                 Out-out are the lights-out all !
                                                                                 And, over each quivering form,
                                                                                 The curtain, a funeral pall,
                                                                                 Comes down with the rush of a storm,
                                                                                 While all the angels, all pallid and wan,
                                                                                 Uprising, unveiling, affirm
                                                                                 that the play is the tragedy, "Man",
                                                                                 And it's hero, the Conqueror Worm
                                                                                                                                          Poe

On the road that I have taken,
one day, walking, I awaken,
amazed to see where I have come,
where I'm going, where I'm from.

This is not the path I thought.
This is not the place I sought.
This is not the dream I bought,
just a fever of fate I've caught.

I'll change highways in a while,
at the crossroads, one more mile.
My path is lit by my own fire.
I'm going only where I desire.

On the road that I have taken,
one day, walking, I awaken.
One day, walking, I awaken,
on the road that I have taken.

Two of my favorites from John Lillison, England's greatest one-armed poet:

 In Dillman's Grove
In Dillman's Grove my love did die,
and now in ground shall ever lie.
None could ever replace her visage,
until your face brought thoughts of kissage.

Pointy Birds
O pointy birds, o pointy pointy,
Anoint my head, anointy-nointy.
"Then out spake brave Horatius, the Captain of the gate:
 To every man upon this earth, death cometh soon or late.
 And how can man die better, than facing fearful odds.
 For the ashes of his fathers and the temples of his Gods."

               Let Me Forget…

 Let me forget the dark seas rolling,
The taste of wind, the lure and lift
Of far, blue-shrouded shores;
No longer let the wild wind’s singing
Build high the waves in this
My heart’s own storm;

 Now let me quietly work, for I have songs.
Let not my blood beat answer to the sea…
The beaches lie alone, so let them lie.
Let me forget the gray-banked distant hills,
The echoing emptiness of ancient towns;
No longer let the brown leaves falling
Move me to wander…I have songs to sing.

While strolling through the woods one day,
Per chance I did see an old rotten tree with and a few dozen bees
Now Wordsworth said all nature is good and honey is surely that,
So anxiously I climbed the tree to get the golden sap,
Now I lay here in my bed my body a swollen sight,
And Wordsworth's nature is nothing is me,
the bees put up one hell of a fight!

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there,
I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air....

Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace.
Where never lark, or even eagle flew —
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
– Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

This has always been one of my all-time favorites...... he truly lived the life, Magee jr surely did....
"When one considers just what they should say to a new pilot who is logging in Aces High, the mind becomes confused in the complex maze of info it is necessary for the new player to know. All of it is important; most of it vital; and all of it just too much for one brain to absorb in 1-2 lessons" TC
