I wish you would fix the search feature on the BBS so it showed relevant results instead of a bunch of dung from 1999. Yes, I know there is an advanced search feature but c'mon, shouldn't the default be to show the most recent results instead of something from almost 20 years ago?

I always use the "Advance" setting with a time limit to cover only the recent post. Searches much quicker and I find the things I am  looking for much easier.

All you have to do is limit the range of the search.  SMF has chosen a fixed length of time to timeout searches and our board is too big to search the entire database in the time they have allotted.

We could alter the SMF code, but it would break updates from them.

Would it be possible to set up an alternate search engine, like Google?  I think I have seen that done elsewhere.

I've posted in other threads, the best way to go about using the "AH BBS Search"

If you simply use advance search

Uncheck all the forums and then check only the forums that best fit what you are currently trying to find

Then use the calculator on your PC, and multiply 365 times however many years you want to search between or back to (this takes hardly a minute to do) by doing this you can key in the number of days/years/time span to search through
