This was originally going to be an update of Kev367th's old 1674HCU RAF B-24J skin. Lyric1 had found me a photo of this aircraft and I was half way through skinning it when I decided I'd rather do an aircraft from a combat squadron than an operational conversion training unit.
This Liberator Mk VI flew with the RAF Coastal Coomand's 220 Squadron on long range anti submarine patrols over the South Atlantic. The Mk VI was essentially a B-24J equipped with radar, depth charges and searchlights below the wings. It was painted in RAF Coastal Command's grey/green upper and white lower scheme, the idea of the white was to make the aircraft less of a dark silhouette against the sky when viewed from the conning tower of a U boat.
