Why do you pass on Pickup Missions?
« on: September 25, 2018, 04:12:28 PM »
Just curious for myself when I create "Pickup Missions"....

What are the top three reasons you do NOT join a posted pickup mission?

Example:
A- I'm already in flight
B- Mission is too long
C- I don't like the mission type/aircraft selection
D- Wait, there's a mission?!
E- Mission isn't to capture a base
F- KB is a jerk-face that smells funny when I formation fly with him... :devil

Please keep your answers to simple bullet points, and my ego is fragile so if it's all F, then u guys can go suck lemons...  :devil

:aok For me, its usually because I am already busy. Busy in FLIGHT...if in Wirb, and its slow, I will ditch out and join a mission. Only other is I dont care for LONG Bomber Missions,as usually I will notice alot of action pick up somewhere...and its the more what I like doing action. Hate being tied down that long...REFUSE to quit on a mission...so I just dont sign up for those.

I would normally say "A"..... but I really like "F" as a choice. I pick "F".    :D

Well, "F" mostly, that is why LilMak sent the case of "Old Spice" to you.  :devil

I like jumping in your missions and try to when ever you post one. There are a few things you might do different to help with the success rate of your missions, but on the whole you do a good job, thats why I dont mind jumping in.

For me not to join one is only because I'm in the middle of something else either in the game or at home (afk for bits of time doing stuff around the house).

I think one of the biggest issues with the missions is lack of success. This discourages players from "investing the time" in one. I think a lot of players just figure ganging a base with "everyone else" is a better way to succeed.

Todays players are more about the "kill" than "playing the game" in my opinion. Thats why you'll come in at 15k with your buffs after a well planned out route and find a certain squad hovering around in tempest and F4-U4s to pick as the mission comes in. They are looking to add to their kill totals not a fight to defend the base. You can tell that because as soon as you get one in a bit of trouble "dive out and RTB" is there plan every time.

Missions use to be part of the game because most players were playing at being a WWII pilot and living the "Glory days" if you can call WWII the glory days. We were all pretending to be William Holden, Alec Guinness,  James Garner,  Matthew Modine,  Michael Caine and all those other great movie heros. Todays players not so much.

Most seem poorly organized and poorly led.

I concede the poorly led comment, but can you elaborate on the poorly organized?

I typically try and get somewhere between an FSO/scenario as far as planning - usually they consist of "hey let's all go do this together".

Easily.  Usually a low time player, he'll have bombers with 100% fuel when target is a couple sectors away. It's a group grope, no brief just "ok lets go get em" then no leadership.  No target assignment, etc.  IMO a total waste of time.

What are the top three reasons you do NOT join a posted pickup mission?

*  I'm anti-social and don't really enjoy cooperative ventures.

*  I hate base taking.  The goal is much different from dogfighting, and I get no thrill if my team captures a base.

*  I don't enjoy traveling in a group.  Usually that leads to ganging the first hapless opponent the group encounters.

All that said, I think there is a large group of players - probably the majority - who really enjoy team efforts.  I DO enjoy opposing missions, so it all works out for the best.

Infrequency of mission posting kind of sets them as an after thought.

Have you tried sneezing and farting at the same time? Equal and opposite forces should cancel each other out

G: I don't understand the language. Although I can type and even speak English in a somewhat understandable manner, getting and understanding the orders from the cacophony of eager fellow missionaries is next to impossible.
