Just asking
« on: October 02, 2018, 04:27:39 AM »
Is there a reason that AH clock runs faster than real life? Also, why set the Fuel burn to 2? I was thinking last night....With scenarios set at 1..fuel burn, it doesnt really change much as far as how good the fight is. Sure scenarios are a REAL WORLD_ISH travel alot of distance to meet the enemy....just dont see why it should be different in MELEE. Sure the biggest issues of late is "I cant find a fight" and having folk run to ack or just plain run. IF the fuel burn was at 1, would it not help as far as finding fights? Sure you would still need to put in the time fly there or wait an Ack runner out..even pure runners...for me its always a fuel issue...so cant chase/wait on them to mess up. So just wondering.... :uhoh

Fuel/Time continuum.

Fuel burn by the hour.

You need to carry more fuel. If you are carrying all the fuel the plane can carry, you have the wrong plane for the job.

The aircraft with smaller fuel tanks have a performance advantage in AH Melee that is offset somewhat when the fuel burn is higher. In scenarios, where longer flight times are typical, fuel burn is normal.

I think the clock time runs faster to limit the amount of darkness, I don't recall what HTC has said about it.

Fuel burn of less than 2.0 means a horde of LA7s and Tempests flying forever on 1/4 fuel.

Not sure I want that.

True, I had thought of that as well  :uhoh I am just wondering if a change to this fuel burn...maybe not to 1,(maybe a reset in other direction, like 2.5) but just a tweak...might make it better for some Players,Sides, or Conditions(ENY/Double teamed/try and force a fight) could be enhanced. It COULD also MAYBE give the Bomb/Strategy players another Strat to target for other than just Milk Runs? The FUEL strats get hit now...TRUE...its just not used as an STRATEGIC target. I know it can BE used that way NOW...just thinking if it was made A WEE BIT more useful in the "Strategy" side of game play,it might could BOOST GAME dynamics. Another target? Was just thinking it was something I DIDNT KNOW, as to WHY this was as IT IS. Just that maybe folk who fly Las and Tempests(ENY willing) could still fly their preferred crates and STILL FEEL like they can find a fight...even if they had to run one down. Seems FUEL is the most CONSTANT limiter to stopping a runner or waiting till they come out of ack(it is for me, and what I like flying)?

I think the fuel limiter changed about the same time they took away the ability to pork fuel down to 25% at the fields. When fuel was porked all the short range fighters were hangered. So to still allow them but curb the numbers of LAs and such they set it so you can only pork the drop tanks, and put the burn to 2 to shorten the legs on the LAs.

I dont think your looking to make the fuel burn 2.5 as that will shorten the flight time available even more.

I think the quick clock just makes it so night isnt always the same time of day. With the quicker pass of time night is shorter, and comes around more like 3. something times a day.

Weird, unless in a bomber I'm always at full fuel and at least one bag of gas.  An exception would be a Mustang with 75% and 2 bags of gas or doing jabo runs in Jugs and they are normally at least 75% fuel.  I plan on returning to base and have no desire to explain to the FAA why I landed with less than the legal minumum!

With the fuel burn rate set at 2, then fuel becomes a factor.  If you were flying a real P-51 in the real world in a real mission, you would spend hours flying hundreds of miles and have to watch your fuel.  In your simulated P-51, you are flying a much shorter time and a much shorter distance.  Burning through your fuel twice as fast means you still have to watch your fuel even though you are not flying as far.

True...maybe there is a tweak to be made with the PORKING of fuel? Just seems like there is SO MUCH that could be done to keep folk fighting over. Bombers/Strategy types..more targets...defenders more incentive to DEFEND STRATS..win win. That sort of thing :uhoh

There are plenty of things to fight over in this game, the problem is most players these days dont want to fight! Their end game is to grab as many bases as easily as possible with the least amount of fighting involved, period.

Mine is experimental. I take off in a P-38 and see what parts are most important to keep flying.

Yeah.....I fly with more fuel than necessary and it's served me well on many occasions because many of my missions were pretty long distance.

except that the most important  parts usually fly off first in a 38
