Target Selection Persists Through Clouds
« on: October 31, 2018, 01:13:04 PM »
A target selected with TAB (the rectangular box drawn around it, F11 pad-lock view following it), stays selected and the rectangular box continues to be shown even if the target itself becomes invisible in/behind clouds. Looks like the targeting computer picks it up through radar or infrared, or something else that isn't affected by clouds.

When the target becomes invisible, so should the target selection box.

It worked like you are "Wanting" in this latest scenario(like you would be expecting....clouds= lose contact). Think its the "Layering/Thickness" in MA, to keep frame rates more consistent? Dont really understand how Scenario would be different as far as FRs go..maybe less GRAPHICS to draw/ all action is condensed in smaller area? Could it be tied to Icon and Radar settings? Thats the only difference that comes to mind, between MA and SA. We have GV dar, so figure its more of a Continuity of the experience in the MA.. :uhoh I LOVED how the clouds worked in these last 2 Scenarios. Cloud thickness saved me more than once. This would be a MA TEST, that would be pretty sweet to try :aok

I don't understand what you're saying. I don't think the specific arena matters, nor the density of the clouds, or frame rate, or radar settings.

There is an inconsistency: The icon of enemies concealed by clouds vanishes, but the selection box remains visible. That's simply inconsistent. Either the icon should remain visible in clouds, too, or the selection box vanish like the icon. However, it seems intentional that the icon vanishes (else it wouldn't) - and the target selection box was simply forgotten (maybe not so easy, as F11 mode would need to stop following too at that moment).

Well whatever the reason..In the scenario, if in clouds the "PADLOCK" was broken once target entered clouds.

I am confused, last time i checked it was as ccvi says (been 3 months). Did they bring out a patch fixing this? If so i probably missed it. If not it should be fixed. Last scenario however i did not try to use it, i thought it would be lame. So far i have not experienced it being "hidden" or "disabled" when my bogie fly's into a cloud.

Only reason I noticed it, was having you "Padlocked"! Wingman AP worked though...was "Friendly Lock" in first 2 frames...was always a disconnect in clouds.
