Bf 110D of 9. Zg 26 in June, 1941. 9 Squadron's home base was Trapani, Sicily and was tasked with attacking Malta and escorting shipping from Italy to Libya throughout 1941 and early 1942. However, the squadron would be deployed to Derna, Libya for short stints in 1941. repelling the British operations to break the siege of Tobruk. This aircraft wore the standard day-fighter camouflage pattern of RLM 71 and 02 over 65. Only the large white tailband indicates MTO deployment. The full yellow cowling was universal IFF for all Luftwaffe aircraft at the time.
