Plane of the Month Challenge
« on: November 29, 2018, 06:14:15 AM »
Every month, a different plane.  The top three or five or whatever pilots get their names on the home page.
Something a little different to inspire competition.

This was Atlau's idea by the way so if you don't like it, blame him.  :bolt:
"Then out spake brave Horatius, the Captain of the gate:
To every man upon this earth, death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better, than facing fearful odds.
For the ashes of his fathers and the temples of his Gods."

Great idea.. anything to spice things up.  Might not be for everybody, but I think quite a few would take interest if it was posted in a MOTD.

If  you get out there and fight you will find competition. Some consider running away from the fight as competition.

That is why I asked the question above.

I think the purpose is to get a few different planes getting used, rather than the heavy dose of la7/yak3/ etc.  I vote the ki61 as the first!

Ah to get folks into the lesser used birds would be good. I would participate in that.

Im down with a ki61 challenge for next month. What should the ground rules be? Most kills?

It would have to be total kills or fighter kills for simplicity's sake.

Can anyone knock Tongs off his Ki-61 throne?   :joystick:

AFAIK there is no way to break down k/h per plane type
And even if there was, you'd run into a problem: One lucky pilot spawning in a Ki-61 while some noe buffs die in the ack above him would have a K/H of something like 100. If he never touches the Tony again, he'd invariably win the competition.

Maybe if people fly it in fighter mode and dont touch any other fighters than their relative scores might be valid.

IMO, you should do best kills/sortie after at least 20 sorties.

I like the idea of this because it would get people flying new planes and challenges are always fun!

If we could filter the score by plane this would be easier.

Honestly to get people fighting and dying in different planes i think total kills is the best motivator. (Though not necessarily the best indicator of skill)
