What? It was exactly like this in AH2. I don't know what game you were playing when it comes to 200 but nothing has changed.

so you enjoy the Toxic atmosphere-players cussing other players-calling each other names when they got killed, players accusing each other a cheat or a shade, wasn't like this in AH2, what do you think or feel when new players manage to find the 200 channel?

I yes me made a wish on the wish list for something to be done about the problem, wether this is it or not, I like it.

There is validity to both sides of the channel 200 argument.  I always tune 200 and routinely use it to salute enemy pilots that fought well.  There has always been trash talk on 200, but it has been steadily increasing.  The player community here is on average older than most and as such good gamesmanship behavior is more prevalent.  Players are reflecting our current society of "I can say/do anything, but will be offended by anything you say/do" mentality.  Try a popular FPS and you will see many ill behaved players!  Hitech is in the poor position of trying to keep a positive gaming environment that is being populated more and more with people lacking social courtesy and good gamesmanship.  No easy answers here!

How about if when you tried to pm someone the recipient had the option to "pick up the phone" or ignore it. Kind of like a caller id function.

Why we are trying some communications changes.

A review of Aces High.

Quote
It is a good simulation but there are a low number of players and many of them have dreadful attitudes towards other players. For example there is a high level of superficial charm but after a while the real personalities start to come through and then you realise there is something very wrong with many of these people and you are probably dealing with an unusually high proportion of psychopaths. There are no new players and when they do get new players, they tend to leave very quickly because of the dreadful social interactions. When these problems are raised in the community they are denied and burried. The community argues that their community is friendly and supportive: let me make this very clear, they are friendly and supportive of each other but not outsiders. Having said all that, there are some decent human beings in the game but they generally let the psychopaths ruin it for the nice people, probably because they do not want to be attacked like the other victims. So if you can handle personality disorders and you like to fly a very well built air combat simulation then go for it.

I guess my question is...Are there still cross country comms channels that we could pm to players on the other side to use to talk to each other?

I logged after just a few minutes today. There are plenty of guys on all countries that I enjoy friendly banter with. Now I have to switch sides to chat with them but have to wait hours before I can switch back. Communication was a fun aspect of the game and now its been neutered. Wrong move in my opinion but that's just me.

Just because HTC disabled channel 200, like they had to do with channel 1 years ago... Does this mean that all 200 thru 299 channels are now disabled?

Or did HTC possibly leave channels 201 thru 299 untouched for a workaround?

Tuned to 200 channel three whole times IIRC and found it to be mostly whining, taunting, name-calling, and know-it-all blowhards arguing.
There is plenty of that on country channel, rendering 200 superfluous.   :D

Maybe they can create a friends list where you can still chat. I think htc will be able to find a compromise

90% of what I see on 200 can be boiled down to:

- "Nice HO."
- "Nice run to ack."
- "I died outnumbered."

And then sometimes people try to educate the community on the current internet rage issue.

Don't really see how disabling 200 affects anything to do with that review.  The same stuff can happen on country.
