If I may make a suggestion. GV dar has never been popular.... I really dont like it... but I understand why it was installed.
My suggestion is this... to kill GV dar we give the old HQ a use. Bomb the enemy HQ and they lose GV dar for a set amount of time.

What does everyone think?

GV dar seems to be the work-around for invisible GVs. While they are often hard to spot, sometimes it feels like they are invisible from certain angles. I'm trying to wait for a chance to take a screenshot of an invisible vehicle, but the problem is that the shot of the correct tree with the invisible vehicle needs to be taken before the shot from another angle showing the GV.

The problem isn't that a single GV is hard to spot. The problem is that things are too binary. War isn't about single hidden GVs. Where forces collide, there is too many targets to hide. The task of aircraft is never to find the one last remaining enemy. It's even difficult to find a single lost friendly who wants to be found.

The HQ is so lonely it's been broadcasting enemy intelligence with impunity!

I like the idea because it is an attempt to bring back deep bomber missions. So long as the hour long sortie to the HQ isn't met with a repair within 10minutes, otherwise the juice isn't worth the squeeze.

I like it. (Mainly because nothing will change)  :salute todd

It’s not radar.   It’s eyes on the ground.

Hitech says "DAR" is a term that encompasses all forms of intelligence gathering, not just literal radar.

The hardest pill for me to swallow when it comes to GVDAR is a plane has a map showing the exact location of our spawn points.  Why does the "enemy" get a pin point location of our start point?
Then planes also have the advantage of seeing GVDAR.  Now they know if you are actually there or not.
Now if it has not been easy enough for them at this point they get our icon and drop a bomb right on the neon sign of which GVs have absolutely no defense against.  I have no idea how you could make that any easier for a plane to kill a GV.
If we are going to continue with this GVDAR thing could we at least narrow it down to only GVs can see the GVDAR?  Not in a plane or in the tower.

Hitech put the enemy distance markers on the bottom when viewing them instead of the top like the friendlies, because on GVs that big ol' neon maker on top of them made it pretty easy to find them. Then they changed vis range on the GVs because at many angles you could spot them pretty easily and the GV guys were getting slaughtered.

Then we got our little spotter plane with the better range viewing. Not long after that we got speed trees and the ability to disappear under a tree even to that.

Then came the GV "dar" and the tankers that had built a bit of a community with in the AH community began to leave. Why? Well its kinda like have a big ol' neon sign over your tank saying here I am!

I'd like to see two changes to bring back the balance that has tip way too far off from the GVs.

1. remove at least 40% of the trees! Especially around fields, bases, towns and strats. Keep the heavy forest out away from the built up areas, maybe 5 miles out. When building up an area the first thing to go is the trees, why do we still have so many?

2. Make GV dar only come on for a gv a mile or so outside fields, bases, towns and strats. This will more accurately the "spotters" spotting the vehicles as there would more likely be more people closer to the bases/fields and such to spot them. Also more and more fight should and most likely would be around the bases and such so it would make it easier for the new guys to "find a fight" which the new GV dar was for in the first place.

This would give the GVs some ability to "hide" while traveling to..... where ever. It would still give players a chance to find a fight, yet not make it so GVers can completely avoid a fight. I think this would be a decent compromise between what we have and what a better balance would be.
