"Mopsy" was an A-20G flown by Lt Clark of the 644th Bomb Squadron, 410th Bomb Group who were based in England and then France in late 1944. This Group's role as part of the 9th Air Force was to support the Allied armies' advance by level bombing enemy logistics and communications. The method employed was for a glass-nosed A-20J to act as bombing leader for a group of gun-nosed A-20Gs, but at altitudes which were sometimes as low as 3,000 feet. In July Mopsy, like most Allied aircraft, had its upper D Day stripes painted over to make it less visible to fighters.
