Sorry, Arlo. The I-16 was in very limited use by August/September '42. I found no evidence of any air regiments in the Leningrad area primarily equipped with Rata's. They were still there, but not even in squadron strength. Yaks, LaGGs, MiGs, and  P-40s were far more numerous.

Has there ever been a 1941 or earlier Eastern Front FSO? Operation Barbarossa?  Then this event plane will never be used, based on such.  :old:

Yes there have been FSO's with the I-16. There will be future FSO's with the I-16. Have no fear.

I remember flying the Rata in FSO a long time ago. I recall it being surprisingly effective.

Good to hear. I remembered flying them in an event and actually getting a 110 kill (talk about overjoyed) but I thought it was a regular scenario. Now that I think about, though ....

This was back in my reckless days before wearing tri-focals. Guess I just wanna fly the Mosca since I was one of the oddballs that advocated it's addition to the plane set. I will look forward to flying it when it comes up.

(I really do think the FSO design teams do good work.)  :salute

I love the I-16 and may be its biggest fan, but there is simply no place for it in this setup.

Understood. I'll be looking forward to it.

Perhaps Mosca (non-cannon) vs. BF109E (closest avail) in Spain.  :D

Trust me, we have some crazy ideas...just have to convince the FSO population to fly them :)
