Hi all

I bought the latest copy of 'FlyPast' aircraft magazine today and they did a piece on a German company that are making '95%' accurate replicas of a few aircraft (or spares for P51s, 109s etc) which include the 190.

Check this site out - www.flugwerk.de

Now, just imagine owning one of these... the best thing is that you have full product support!  Also since these aircraft are very authentic they might be able to get some original Fw190s airworthy!

This particular one is a FW(FW for FlugWerk) 190A8/N (N for New).

So, get saving your pennies... I think they are priced at $511,000

Regards

I can see it now. Sometime in the near future, during one of the endless bulletin board flight model debates, when someone says, "hey know-it-all did you ever really fly one of these warbirds?" The comeback will be, "Healll Yes!"

Here's what I know. Grendl kindly posted a link to a scanned version of that article over on AGW.

They have already sold one of the planes to a South-African customer. They can only produce a very limited number of assembled planes (5 I think) or else they "qualify" for "Mass production" and stricter regulations would apply, making the 190s even more expensive. They' keep one of the planes for themselves, sell the other 3 and then continue selling complete kits that can either be assembled by a local flug-werk agent or by the customer himself.

The price tag isn't *that* horrible, considering the ammount of research that went into the project. Remember: They didn't even have a complete set of blueprints, so research must have been a pain, plus they had to manufacture a lot of parts specifically for this project.

$ 500.000 is a fair price if you ask me...if only they'd throw in a set of 151/20s...

I've read somewhere that Yak-3s are being BUILT as well using original blueprints/mouldings etc. The only difference is Allisons are used instead of VK engines... Hmmm ... I wonder how much would one of those cost? Gotta buy an extra lottery ticket this week .

Your right lynx

I read somewhere that one of the Yakolev plants in Russia was looking for a way to "de-militarize" and bring in more hard western currency.

So they came up with the idea of building new Yak-3, with the Allision engine, for the western "Warbirds" market.
