GV Radar
« on: March 18, 2019, 05:53:14 AM »
I have to say that I greatly dislike the current GV sector markers as well as the way that friendly GVs are shown to anyone within 12.5 miles on the clipboard map.

I liked the old way much more when GV's had icons that were visible from 2.5K but were not shown on the clipboard radar.

It does make a lot of extra clutter on the clipboard map.

Can't remember the exact verbage, but there's an option to turn the GV square indicators on/off when you right click the map.  Might want to check that.

My wish:
Please turn off GV dar permanently.
The red end sortie and the flashing base or town is enough.

Dang Mano and here I'm trying to make it a moot point that GVDAR does anyone any good. At least here it means you have someone to say hello to in your own special way.

Target is 4000yds, gallery is 500ft above the village. I tested the village and tanks disappear in that tiny little place. The tree types don't capture tanks and most don't have any really low branches. And I've been testing using fractions of the village tile to get 2-5 houses to show up in random locations around the rim and pit. Center spawns you either spawn safe in the village or exposed in that grass ring around the village. Kind of like Greebo's AH2 crater on CraterMA.

I think the best ideal is to do away with GV dar & Tank towns...  put AH back on the road to be a combat sim again.

Not sure if I'm simply missing something... but historically speaking, tank towns had the highest combat density. Be it the old Crater MA, the crater TT area of Trinity (pre 2007), the original TT on Ndisles... all those places were full of people shooting at each other, on the ground and in the air. The was much more combat than in any other place in AH.

Personally Id rather see GV dar like was when AH3 first came out. WE certainly do need to have less trees. Maybe instead of pinpointing a gv sector, have a number appear in the corner of the sector to let players know there is, and how many GV are in the sector. An extra "bar" may take up too much room, but a number in the top.right, corner of the sector on the map should be enough to "alert" new players "where" there are GV with out pointing an arrow strait at them.

loving that map bustr! I cant wait to smack around some t85s! I thoroughly enjoyed having "kusk"-esk maps in the rotation. Those massive chaotic GV battles were really something amazing.

I'd really be happy if the GV radar didn't apply to halftracks.

Why should it not? M3's are just as big a problem as any other GV.

Lighter footprint and lack of armor.
