I spent a great deal of my youth in Post, Texas where my grandparents owned the Garza Hotel (which is now a bed and breakfast with none of the family involved in the ownership or operation).

Outside it still very much looks like it did in my younger years.

Inside, however, they've done an amazing job refurbishing it to it's original condition which predated when my grandparents owned it.

Post, Texas was founded by the cereal magnate C.W. Post though he started his cereal operation in Battle Creek Michigan.

"The land belonged to John Bunyan Slaughter, as it was on his U Lazy S Ranch.[4] In 1906, Slaughter sold it to Charles William (C. W.) Post, the breakfast cereal manufacturer, who founded "Post City" as a utopian colonizing venture in 1907."

I got in trouble a couple of times climbing up to sit on his statue's lap located at the opposite end of Main street from the hotel.

It was and probably still is the kind of town where a six year old could walk the entire length of main street, un-escorted, and say hi to everyone they meet without fear (or their parent's fear). Granted, there was a 50/50 chance that I was speaking to a cousin.

It was my own personal 'Mayberry RFD.'

That would be a good bet. It's post time.

Just remember postage required on every letter you post or repost at the Post Post Office.
