Excellent synopsis of the Battle of Midway - the kid has two more - Coral Sea and Pearl Harbour - all done quite well!

If the Japanese planes with pilots were not destroyed on the runway what would the outcome have been.

There are no pies stored in this plane overnight

The germans would still be reeling from bombing PEARL.

I think a longer war but in the end the same result, the US was always going to win unless they had just abandoned the pacific. By the end of the war the US had a ridiculous number of ships, floating dry docks, aeroplanes galore and all the oil in the world. No matter how much esprit and skill the Japanese aviators had they were going to get steamrolled in the end.

In the movie Tora! Tora! Tora! - Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto saying, “I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.” might of been fiction but was factual.
