Real or Fake
« on: November 21, 2019, 09:55:28 PM »
Saw this online about life risking selfies.  Most of them are skyscrapers and bridges.  This one stands out.

I vote fake.
Chuck Norris can pick oranges from an apple tree and make the best lemonade in the world. Every morning when you wake up, swallow a live toad. Nothing worse can happen to you for the rest of the day. They say money can't buy happiness. I would like the opportunity to find out. Why be serious?

What Spikes said.  An average photoshop effort though.

I remember back in the 70's when you could drive in the back of a truck, I was 14 or 15 and I could barely hold my hand steady at 60 mph.

At first glance looks real, but even with my very limited knowledge about flying there's two things that reveal this as a fake.

First, and this should be obvious to anyone, where's the window? The other windows are bolted/riveted from the outside and the shape is such that if it had hinges opening inside the frame should be visible through the left window.

Second, and this knowledge has been acquired as a flight passenger, at those altitudes passenger planes fly at the speed of 1000 km/h. Anyone who's ever been in a car knows what it feels to stick a hand out at highway speed, here it would be multiplied by 10.

I'd rate this equally realistic: https://youtu.be/wkZ5pjF0SfA

Utterly preoposterous.

Even without the obvious, you can tell the airplane is superimposed on the background.

If you look closely, the window can be seen in its fully opened position inside and to the rear of the selfie taker.  Taken while parked at the gate.

A coincidence that the name on the plane is "Perspective"?

Oh? I thought that line would be part of the cockpit equipment! But I stand corrected, after some Googling I found out that it's a swiveled sliding window with the frames looking just like that one.

@Vraciu, you must admit that the mirroring clouds are quite immersive!

Meh.  I'm one of these people that can spot a fake photo with my eyes closed.  It's why I can't stand modern movies.   I prefer a model on pianowire to CGI.

At least they added that detail, which is more effort than a lot of fakes put into it.

At first glance this is a horrible fake. After 1/16 of a second the physics of this not being possible kick in.
