Aces High3, Crashed, and no longer installed.
« on: January 04, 2020, 01:03:09 PM »
Good afternoon gents!

So last night AH3 randomly crashed, thats not normal thing but hey it happens on a rare occasion.  However this time around it seemingly took the installation and everything with it. :(
I checked the steam directory and sure enough the game was gone, anyone else had this happen before?  Kinda sounds like a Steam thing vs AH3, has anyone else dealt with this?  Not happy
about losing all of my settings and controls.  But at least my 100,000 screen shots are ok. :D

check if steam didn't move the folder to another drive.
It's almost 100% steam fault. Other than that it would be a drive failure..

The drive just fine and I did look and see if it got moved, no such luck.  I guess I had better get busy setting everything back up again.
Thanks for the advice tho!

Curious... you have been here for quite awhile, why do you have to use steam?

If you save your settings folder someplace safe it's very easy to reinstall the game.

If you already have games on Steam, it organizes the games on a neat, clean library with easy access.  It's a major draw to use Steam.

Ok. I wondered as we have 2 customers who use third party PO systems like Ariba. It always causes them issues yet they use it. I can only figure they are not able to run their business on their own.

It made me think of it when steam caused issues and why anyone would use it. That explains it. The good must outweigh the bad.

Another advantage on Steam, the updates are automatic.

There is no way the game crashing would delete itself from your drive. However, deleting the game while running seems likely to crash it.

I have many software packages managed through Steam and yes I have had this issue with other games. At the time I suspected the hard drive was the problem and moved everything to a fresh drive.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

Does Steam auto-update AH? I know it does most of my games, but Warframe it doesn't since Warframe uses its own launcher.

I am guessing he means it is updated when he signs on to steam. So AH is not actually on your computer. My AH automatically updates but not till I sign in.... but then it is actually on my computer.

I am curious.... can you backup your game settings to your computer when using steam? Sounds like the thing to do if possible.

You don't get it and assumption you have about Steam is wrong.

Curious as to why you would think that is a root cause here.  At no point did the OP indicate he was deleting while the game was running.  I suspect you are doing your usual crap of posting from a lack of knowledge but desire to be well thought of

I didn't say the OP deleted it. You're doing your usual hit job based on poor reading comprehension.

The likely explanation from the posted facts is that Steam deleted it for some unknown reason.
