Great idea Bug. 

Here's a simpler idea. The new player learns about the help channel on the first auto play video and uses the help channel to ask for help. Players and trainers wishing to help in-game tune to the help channel.

No other game gas trainers. In other games new players feeling lonely or needing help look for a guild. That would work here, too. Players of the same guild... err squad happen to be online at similar times, so the trick would be to make it convenient for a new player to find a squad with a fitting profile, that is willing to help.

So all the game needs is a squad roster, with a short description / profile of squads and a big button "find guild".

You'd also want to communicate that to the new players somehow.
