New Players Looking For Trainer
« on: January 05, 2020, 04:41:11 PM »
If a new player may find themselves in the TA and looking for a trainer, perhaps add a button/option as depicted below.

]

This option could be made available only in the TA, if needed.
The request would be sent out globally to any trainers that may be playing online, to inform them that somebody is in the TA and needs help.

A button to contact a trainer is more practical given that players are in different time zones all over the world.

Why should a trainer be interrupted if he's playing the game?

If you want everyone to be able to call a trainer you'd need 24/7 coverage. If it just sent a message to the MA like  "Somebody wants help in the TA", then anybody who cared to go could go and help.

Maybe we need more trainers.
No one said you had to drop everything and rush right there.
A simple message in your text buffer (Trainers Text Buffer Only!) would be sufficient.

Relax a little...

No worries I'm very relaxed. How many trainers do you think we need?

If a trainer isn't online or doesn't show up when called how is that helping?

That would depend on the numbers.

That's 'if'.  What if they 'are'.  A simple return message to the player that's requesting help should suffice.
The 'Request Trainer' could be greyed out if no trainers are online.

I'll let HTC work out the technicalities.

You could.  But then it can be confusing to the user not understanding why is is greyed out and thinking there is something they need to do to un-grey it.

I'd recommend it always being enabled and either respond with a confirmation message like:  "Thank you.  Your request has been forwarded to an on-duty Trainer. Please wait.  If the Trainer has not arrived in 15 minutes, try again."

Or a failure message:  "Sorry.  A Trainer is not available at this time.  Please go to www. HitechCreations.com and look of under the Support heading for "Schedule Training".

And of course that link should be placed prominently under the Support section so new users don't have to search around forever for it.

Because they excepted the role as a trainer. Don't want the responsibility, give up the roll as a trainer.

That has never been part of the contract and I see no reason why it should be.

So is it train when it's convenient or provide the training service to fellow players when they need it?

What's the most efficient way to get two people in the same place at the same time?

Make an appointment.

That's exactly correct.  :aok  And you don't have a better idea.

But I believe making it easier to contact the trainers is on Hitech's list.

I have posted a better idea in several threads where training is mentioned.

I hope Dale makes the trainers more accessible but it's kind of a shame that he would have to step in to do so. You'd figure that an individual, who accepts the responsibility as a trainer, a vital need in this game for most new accounts, would actually make themselves available in game to serve as trainers.
