I read Japan plans to close all schools and I also read those sneaky Canadians are working on a vaccine, cant be true they have social healthcare.
Personally I will stay away from public place as much as possible, even though I had a flu shot.
I'm sure a lot of people are working on a vaccine right now.

We will get one, but it might take a while.
I'm sure this isn't what you meant, but to make sure it is clear for others, the current season flu shot has no effectiveness against COVID-19. Of course, even the regular flu is something to consider.

I think they are a talisman that people are grabbing onto like a religious icon, thinking it will keep them safe. They won't hurt, but they are not the most important protection unless you are getting packed in nose-to-nose with people in public transportation.
By far, like several orders of magnitude, you higher risk vector is your hands. Wash often. Carry some Purel. Get a box or two of those disposable nitrile gloves for if things get really bad.
Keep some salt and sugar on hand. If you get really sick, it you can make an effective homemade re-hydration solution (even if you don't have diarrhea

just an excellent cheap re-hydration):
https://rehydrate.org/solutions/homemade.htm As much physical isolation as you can arrange is your best prophylactic.
The next risk is what is this going to do to the market and economy over the next year.
Move theaters?
Restaurants?
Malls?
Sporting events?
Non-essential shopping?
Airline travel?
Hotel/resort?
Holiday shopping? (30% of retail revenue)
Disruption of supply-chain? Manufacturing grinding to a halt.
Even if we hopefully keep the death rate low, think of the massive overload of our healthcare system. Think of the effect on the health insurance industry taking a massive, totally unforeseen hit on payouts like hasn't been seen in generations. All the companies, all at once. You think they have the reserves to cover that? How many will go belly up and leave people in hospital beds uninsured?
All these and more taking a hit simultaneously?
Market cresting at the tip top of an exuberance wave. Way over priced.
Central banks with fat ledgers and no ammo to fight a massive downturn other than negative rates (which I'm not sure would even be legal in this country.)
