I wonder how far down the hole the EU will sink once more country members start to leave the union. I wonder if and when countries start to leave the EU en mass if the remaining country members of the EU will go to war.

If they do, you will learn the true reason the EU was started and it's true intentions.

Uhm... Racist? I don't think that word means what you think it does... .

The EU was a horrible idea from conception to inception. It's also speculated that the EU concept was conceived shortly before WWII ended by financiers who knew Germany was going to lose. One way or another, Germany was going to rule Europe.

So, there's that... .

Yes RACIST. ALL Nationalists are racists by definition. They think only their kind are worthy. The best example is from OldNitro "Import hordes of 3rd world savages that use their children and women as rape dummies" That is a purely false and RACIST statement made by an "UPSTANDING" Nationalist, who, by the way, doesn't know the difference between Nazis and Socialists.

The European Union.  Four old men in Brussels we know nothing about.  How successful is the EU?  Lemme see.  Rioting in Paris, Italy and Spain because of economic conditions and Greece holding a gun to the EUs heads because of their financially ruined economy.  Ya...........the EUs' been a big success.

there's a guy at the legion that shows up once in a while and starts talking about how this and that fail to assimilate to our culture.  i normally just listen and ask him if he wants another Corona. it stopped being funny to everybody else a while ago but I still get a kick out of that.

You really need to get a dictionary... .

Nationalism and nationalist are not racist by definition. They are quite the opposite of racist.

Don't believe me, look it up. I'll wait... .

Your personal definition doesn't equate to much of anything relating to this conversation.

Then again the massive cudgel "the word racist" that is swung at anything that is disagreeable is ridiculous. It's sad that it has become the norm over the last 4 years (roughly).

as far as peace in the EU, sure, there's peace but a certain member state's government always mucks that up in the end. two world wars don't lie.

But, we'll see and for the sake of Europe. I hope I'm wrong on that account.

Heaven is where:
- the police are British
- the cooks are French
- the mechanics German
- the lovers Italian
and it's all organised by the Swiss.

Hell is where:
- the chefs are British
- the mechanics French
- the lover's Swiss
- the police German
and it's all organised by the Italians.

Looks like Brexit is the start of having British chefs...

Democracy means sometimes you have to let people shoot themselves in the foot.

Even if you feel embarrassed for them fist-pumping as they pull the trigger.

I've seen worse from English Soccer Hooligans abroad.  :D

Calm down.  You're starting to froth at the mouth a bit.

I am sympathetic with their desire to control the flow of immigration.  I believe any number of compromises could have been eventually worked out within the EU framework.

However, I also fully support their right to Brexit.  I just don't think they've realized the full costs yet.  As that fully begins to sink in over the next year, you will see them frantically negotiate to keep all the trade and financial market benefits of being an EU member without any of the inconveniences.  The EU should explain to them calmly that no, while they will continue to trade with them openly and fairly but they get no special deals or tariff exceptions.  They will be treated the same as Russia or Turkey.

The giant financial industry in London that represents a sizable portion of the English economy?  It will be a shriveled husk in two years.  The center of gravity will shift to the continent.

On the bright side, they will be so weakened they will have to lean harder on the "Special" relationship to the US to survive.  But it will become more of a dependent protectorate client state arrangement than as ally.  However, we get an unsinkable island carrier off the Euro coast that the host country has little leverage to deny any demand.  The UK simply becomes another Guam or Puerto Rico.  Divide and conquer.  So, props to us.  ;)
