U.S.S. Barnes USAAF Uber

During World War II escort carriers like USS Barnes (CVE 20), which was placed in commission #OTD in 1943 and is pictured here underway, were used as aircraft transports. Cargo for this voyage was Army Air Forces P-38 Lightning and P-47 Thunderbolt fighters.
