I-16 arriving at Kermit Weeks for restoration!
« on: February 26, 2020, 05:26:37 PM »
     Oh it's I wanted to show you guys this video, too cool check it out

---------> Polikarpov I-16 - Arrival at FoF: https://youtu.be/WnxJwLmAtBA

P.S. I asked weeks about going and looking for either 3 or 4 P-40,s buried (family Secrect) he said if I can get a backer yes he would help us.

 Here is the story told to my father first hand by a ww2 vet pilot was going to be taken over. by the enemy and it was a fresh field just built. 3 p40s(he remembers, I found a list that says yes 4 p40s went to this place.)  Now with ground penetrating radar or whatever we can find them Mr. Weeks helps us get them in flying condition cause get this, they are still in the shipping boxes! Wings on the side BRAND NEW. Probably grease in the guns new. But I did find a list that did confirm this mans story told directly to my dad. He lived a few houses down. If anyone knows who would want to persue this we also have some capital to do this contact me. I think it should be filmed the whole 9 yards. History channel you know a historical thing and someone will end up with a p40. Swear to god this story is true we already someday plan to go retrieve these planes. Weeks already said he would help us get them going. Brand new in the boxes. Base was overun and they they thought they would be back and they never came back for them.

What a nifty little plane.

Also, who knew George Carlin was still alive and working in aircraft restoration?

Saw Weeks flying restored Spanish 109 at a great airshow in England back in September 2012

Fantasy of Flight is a great afternoon when you tire of Disney and its crazy crowds and prices.

Awesome you got to see weeks. I got accidently locked into Chino's museum - during our own private tour just me and pop, I saw there new flugwerk 190's there so I ran behind the gate and got a nice smudge of grease on my finger (oil pan was out so she had run not to long ago. I understand it's modern aircraft oil, it came out of a 190 A8 and I like to believe they had the BMW I think it was a russian "close to the BMW 801 I believe. Proud as could be looking at all these birds for hours alone? We finally as dusck arrived we say the last mechaincs walking to lock the place up and we're all "Hey, hey your going to lock us in and I know when Im close to certification (airplane) I may go to jail or die specktakulry for the chance to fly that fighter for real. Had I did bring it down in one piece i'd take the jail time like a man! I flew the closest thing to a real 190 !190 oil was everywhere haha. Getting locked in chino isn't that bad

I'm wondering if harbin or dongan are still able to manufacture the hs-6 or hs-7 or hs-8 engines as the make 1850hp......which would really crank up a radial
Fw190.
I wouldn't be surprised if they de-rated a bit for safety and longevity.
