MA Strat Run 04-24-20
« on: April 21, 2020, 06:50:27 AM »
-----MA HIGH ALTITUDE STRATEGIC BOMBING MISSION FRIDAY 04-24-20-----

Good morning everyone,

MA missions are slowly returning to Aces High!  I will once again be running a strat run mission on Friday 04-24-20 in the main arena.  Targets will be announced at 1930 here on the BB.
We will be launching with as many B17Gs as we can!  I hope we can get as many people as possible to take part, these missions seem to be gaining traction!  If you have any suggestions on how to improve said mission please let me know.
If you are looking for something fun for you and your squad to take part in then feel free to hop in as a group! (Friendly Or Hostile) Relevant information will be posted below.  This is a great way to warm up for Fortress Europe taking place later the same night!
If you have to choose please do help Nefarious test his Fortress Europe event.  My mission run almost every Friday night and pales in comparison in terms of size and scope.
Last Friday I got some great input and a few things will be changing for this weeks mission and will be covered in the briefing.  I am going to try to start the briefing at 1955, this is where you will get you wing specific details.
The door is always open to join, however if you miss the briefing you might not be flying with the main body thus detracting from your experience.  I can't guarantee you will fly with the main body if you are not at the briefing.

Notice: If any Fighter Squadrons would like to fly escort for the Bombers (Knights) please PM me on the BB or in game and let me know.  Even if only a single squad willing to escort would add a lot to the mission.

--Mission Start Times--
Mission Start Time 2000 EST
(Mission #2 will not be running this Friday due to Fortress Europe)

--Mission Info--
Country: Knights
Ch. 177
Air Frame: B17G
Ordnance: x12 500lb bombs
Fuel: TBD
Target: TBD
Formations: Enabled

If you have any questions hit me up with a PM on the fourms or in game.

PS:

Mass missions like this are what what make Aces High so unique and keep me paying my monthly tribute to Hitech.  If we can keep growing out missions (of any kind) to something of an "dude this looks crazy!" scale we might just rope on a few more people.  I personally sit on the fence, but as stated above the potential scale of combat is unrivaled and keeps me on the hook. <S>FBTrev95/Riftval

1955? Does this mean I can do Neff's run and then use the DeLorean to get to do your run too?

You haven't installed the flux capacitor in your P-38?

I keep a backpack version.  When my bomber gets shot down and I bail.  Terminal velocity is reached and presto!!  I'm back in the saddle again.  :devil

Chuck Norris can pick oranges from an apple tree and make the best lemonade in the world. Every morning when you wake up, swallow a live toad. Nothing worse can happen to you for the rest of the day. They say money can't buy happiness. I would like the opportunity to find out. Why be serious?

There is a new blender coming out soon with one built in. Otherwise I have no room for  a flux capacitor. I am not ditching my blender. I mean... a man has got to know his limitations.

Actually we did pretty well!!!!

25 B-17s upped for the mission.   8 formations plus 1 lone bomber.
Joker1     -  1 bomber
APDrone    -  3
FBtrev95   -  3
999000    -  3
Guthree   -  3
svaalbar  -  3
Smitty64 -  3
AKBmzAwy -  3
AKSofty  -  3

Enroute to target we ran into 18 defenders, most multiple times!!!!
Salute to:  Aleric, 330SC, Fariz, 3Frosti, AppleOne, rayrod, closer, PropNut, GPete, Snargly, TeRex284, Daffy, Picko, MJCrow, Cat7, Okcfire, Poozalot, ramrod78

When we finally made it to the 1st bomb drop...we had 11 B-17s to put ord on the Primary target.  We lost 6 more enroute to the additional target.  And lost one on the flight home.

We had 11 Kills and probably sent as many down with Engine and Pilot hits.

That was the most fun I have had in long long time in the MA.   I even got to lay waste to a ME262!!!

HQ assessment: Unescorted night bombing missions will not be authorized in the future. Reports of Allied aircraft captured by the Luftwaffe (Russian Yaks and our own P-47s) have been confirmed during this mission.
