The scale is about 2:1.

It takes an 18 degree chunk of the planet and squeezes it into the largest map possible.

It won't really be usable untill the planeset is expanded to use this terrain and carrier fleets are available.  Missing are Japanese fighters like the Ki-43 (Oscar), variants of the A6M Zero and an attack fighter like the Ki-84 or Ki-61, (Tony?).  There is also a lack of Japanese dive bombers and level bombers like the Val, Kate, Betty and the twin engined attack fighter who name I can never remember =)

The Allied planeset would need to expand to include Curtis P-40's, an early P-38, F4F, F6F, B25 (several variants), and an earlier war variant of the B17.  Spitfires were available later in the war but used mostly in Burma and Malaya.

I saw HT in the arena a couple of days ago and he made a couple of suggestions about the terrain  and maps.  He also suggested that I wait until the new version of the terrain editor came out before releaseing the PNG/Solomons terrain.

Why?

The new version of the editor should have customised textures and the coastline will be improved.

What else did he say.  Not much.  HT was diving into a low furball at field 16 and unfortunately was driving a Bishop built Hog, (my prefered target for the day).  When he got low and slow with a knight Spit on his tail, I dived in tried to clear his six, blew the pass completely, (not unusual as this is the first tour I've driven a P51 exclusively).  Then I thought, "What the hell. I'm a rook, he's a con" and shot him down.

HT clobbered me right and proper 10 minutes later proclaiming "Revenge is sweet" as he logged and started work.  Odd thing was that it was around midnight, (or 1am), in NZ so HT must have been starting at 6am Central.

Wake me up at 6am and I'm barely coherent much less furballing then having the stength to tear myself away to work.  <S> HT
