Deaths per capita would be far more interesting.

Also most 3rd world countries are either not reporting or significantly underreporting deaths.

I wouldn't be in too big a hurry to believe the numbers, since many hospitals are not taking patients in unless they have Covid-19 already. So when those patients die they get included in the numbers. I heard that Laura Ingraham had a Congressman from Minnesota that claimed the numbers were inflated (all deaths counted as Covid-19), also, but I think that was debunked.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

I'm not sure where you got your data, all sites are running one day behind and none, including John Hopkins University (JHU) is showing that on May 13th. Todays' number on JHU's Dashboard is 82,389, which is actually for the 12th.
Unfortunately, JHU doesn't post historical daily death numbers as far as I can find, meaning that you must catch each daily report late in the day in case of later adjustments, or rely upon different, less reliable sites for trends.
You are right to be looking at the number for deaths as case numbers are wildly unreliable and useless in future predictions.
There's a good chance that tomorrows' total for today will be north of 84,000 based upon a 7 day running average.  :(

Edit for correction: JHU indeed posts the death data, just not on their "Dashboard", however it's linked beneath the "case" data. It's hard to find and not intuitive to use.

When hospitals are paid to count certain death types there will be more of those deaths from greed alone

Getting harder to tell fact from fiction

When you remove NY and old folks home deaths the number is much smaller.

Too small IMO to crash the worlds economy

Hospitals are not getting PAID to report more deaths....that is a ridiculous assertion.

The federal gov pays hospitals more for each covid patient they report

Medicare pays an additional 20% to thier regular payment for covid 19 patients per the CARES Act passed in March

Yep. When compared by deaths/pop the US isn't nearly as bad as some countries. As Eagler said - NYC is the biggest offender by far, rightfully so as it can and did spread like a wildfire there.

You said paid to count deaths. Now it's 20% higher.. one is a lie.. the other is a broad blanket statement. Both I'm sure just a parrot back of something seen or heard on faux news..

Here's another blanket statement. The US government pays for medical care for all.

Just stating facts

Hospitals get more $$$ for each reported covid patient than they do for non covid related treaments.

Yes.. Hospitals also get paid more for each heart attack patient then say a isolated broken finger. Level of care and all that. But let's not bring logic and simple math into this.

The very particular criteria that must be met for the additional 20% is a non-issue.

You are of course welcome to believe what ever you've been told to believe in. Don't worry about "facts" as you say. This topic will pass soon enough. Let's see what new thing tomorrow brings!  :rock

Did you even look it up and read it?

They are paid more for covids as they were told to forego elective surgeries and the like

It was a way for the fed to pay that money back

The 20% increase is on every treatmeatment a patient receives as long as the covid box is checked

Add human nature/ greed and IMO the numbers are not 100% accurate anymore

I did. I read the actual reimbursement requirements put out through medicare. What did you read that makes you think every lil thing will get 20% more when a box is checked.
