Strat Run & Dar Bar
« on: May 18, 2020, 12:35:53 PM »
Lets say you plan a Strat Run route. Weave your way around radar circles to be discreet. Meanwhile the Dar Bar is giving away your progress. Not exact location but it identifies you as in the sector. Kinda foils the effort of dodging radars.

They still have to locate you. The point is warfare and fights. Just be ready for any uppers to come searching if they find you and have fun. Will break the boredom of bombing runs.

In my experience, many players use to give the darbar just a cursory glance. And as darbars are slow moving, they often tend to ignore it, going for quicker engagements instead of trying to figure out if the con in that sector is inbound or outbound.
In fact, I saw countless of huge raids creeping slowly across the map, getting called out by some of us for 20 inutes or more... just to appear almost unopposed over their target with the majority of the country now screaming ALER ALERT and wondering where the enemy just came from  :rofl
It's amazing how many players can not (or will no bother to) read a darbar.

Also, too little information is not good for a combat game either. If you are able to totally avoid getting located while cruising at >20K, you could as well play offline, because there is no real danger in getting intercepted anymore.

As a bomber pilot I have pondered this very question.  Its a tough one, Aces High is a huge game, with no radar bar it would be difficult to find strat runners or any one else for that matter if there is to base radar covering a portion of the grid.  I hear what you are saying however, I don't know it doesn't bother me to much as I like the interception fights.  We will see what happens.  This was thought provoking, thanks for posting.

If you don't want to engage enemy fighters, climb higher.  The cone of boredom will protect you from most.

I think barder strikes a pretty decent balance for strat runners vs people patrolling for strat runners.  It's not always a gimme either way.  Making the right moves and guessing correctly on both sides can make or break an interception.

Most times when I help the Dickweeds out we have had some squads come after us like the Pigs and with their 262s we dont stand a chance. Most times the group rarely gets opposed and with me and another pilot as escort it could be a handful. Last night the Nits were all over the groups including my own set of 24s that was chaotic but fun.

Chaos makes for fun for sure.
